USDT vs USDC: Which Stablecoin Is Better for Selling in India?
USDT vs USDC for Indian users: issuers, networks, availability (including the EU's MiCA rules) and which is easier to sell for INR today.
By Bryan Aaron · Updated
Quick answer
Both are dollar stablecoins. USDT (Tether) is the most traded in India and cheap to move on TRC20, and it's what Disburz accepts today. USDC (Circle) is more available in the EU under MiCA; USDC selling on Disburz is coming soon.
USDT (Tether) and USDC (Circle) are both dollar stablecoins, but they differ in who issues them, where they're available and how easy they are to sell in India.
Side by side
| USDT | USDC | |
|---|---|---|
| Issuer | Tether | Circle |
| Most used networks | TRON (TRC20), Ethereum, BSC, Solana | Ethereum, Solana, Base, Polygon |
| Popularity in India | The most traded stablecoin | Less common |
| EU (MiCA) | Not sold on regulated EU exchanges | Available on regulated EU exchanges |
| Sell for INR on Disburz | Live on TRC20 | Coming soon |
Which is better for selling in India?
Today, USDT on TRC20: it's the stablecoin with the deepest INR market, TRON transfers are cheap, and it's what Disburz accepts now. USDC is useful if you're paid by EU clients or platforms that only send USDC; once USDC goes live on Disburz you'll be able to sell it directly.
Holding USDC now? Swap it to USDT on an exchange and withdraw on TRC20. Network choice explained in TRC20 vs ERC20.
