Sold USDT but INR Not Received? Why Withdrawals Get Stuck in India
Sold USDT but no INR in your bank, or a crypto withdrawal stuck on pending? Find where it's stuck, normal IMPS/NEFT/RTGS times, and how to trace it with a UTR.
By Bryan Aaron · Updated
Quick answer
First find where it's stuck: a USDT withdrawal pending on the exchange, USDT sent but not confirmed, or INR sent but not credited. IMPS usually lands in minutes and NEFT within hours. If it's later than that, get the UTR from the platform and ask your bank to trace it; name mismatches and wrong IFSCs are the most common causes.
You sold USDT, or asked an exchange to withdraw, and the money isn't where it should be. Most delays in India have a boring cause and fix themselves within hours, but some need you to act. The fastest way to sort it out is to find exactly where the money is stuck.
First, find where it's stuck
| What you see | Where it's stuck | Usual cause |
|---|---|---|
| Exchange shows your USDT withdrawal as “Pending” or “Processing” | The exchange hasn't sent it yet | Email or 2FA confirmation not done, security review, network maintenance |
| Exchange shows “Completed” with a TxID, but the receiver says nothing arrived | On the blockchain or at the receiver | Still confirming, wrong network, or a different amount sent |
| The sale is marked paid or completed, but no credit in your bank | In the banking system | NEFT batch timing, name mismatch, wrong account or IFSC, bank-side review |
| INR is in your exchange wallet, but the bank withdrawal is pending | At the exchange's banking partner | Withdrawal limits, bank verification, compliance checks |
If your USDT withdrawal is pending on the exchange
- Check your email and authenticator. Many exchanges hold a withdrawal until you confirm it by email link, passkey or 2FA code.
- Look for a review notice. New addresses, large amounts or a recent password change can trigger a manual security review, usually a few hours.
- Check the network status. Exchanges sometimes pause withdrawals on one network (for example TRC20) for maintenance. The withdrawal page or the exchange's status page says so.
- Don't cancel and resend in a hurry. If the first one goes through later, you'll have sent twice.
If the USDT left but hasn't arrived
- Copy the TxID from the exchange and paste it into a block explorer: Tronscan for TRC20, Etherscan for ERC20, BscScan for BEP20.
- Check the status (success or failed), the confirmations, the token (it must be USDT, not TRX) and the to-address, character by character.
- If the network or address is wrong, stop and read sent crypto on the wrong network?
- If everything matches and it's confirmed, the receiver has it. Contact them with the TxID.
If you sold but the INR hasn't reached your bank
First, give each payment method its normal time:
| Method | Normal time | When to start worrying |
|---|---|---|
| IMPS | Seconds to a few minutes, 24/7 | After a few hours |
| NEFT | Settles in half-hourly batches, 24/7; usually within a few hours | After the next working day |
| RTGS | Real-time, 24/7, for ₹2 lakh and above | After a few hours |
If it's past that, the usual causes are:
- Name mismatch. The account holder name doesn't match the bank's records, so the bank returns the transfer to the sender. This is the most common reason.
- Wrong account number or IFSC, or an account that's closed, dormant or frozen. The transfer is returned, or held if the account can't receive credits. See what to do if your bank rejected the payout.
- Your bank is checking the credit. Large or unusual credits can be held briefly for review. Ask your branch, quoting the UTR.
- The platform hasn't actually sent it. If there's no UTR yet, the payout hasn't left the platform; ask the platform, not your bank.
How to trace the money with a UTR
- Get the UTR from the platform. Every IMPS, NEFT and RTGS transfer has one.
- Search your bank app's transactions for the amount and date; the UTR appears in the narration. See what a UTR looks like.
- Not there? Call or visit your bank and give them the UTR, amount and date. They can tell you whether it was received, held or returned.
- If your bank says it never arrived, send that answer to the platform so it can trace it with its bank.
If you sold on Disburz
- Your order page shows when your USDT payment is detected and counts the confirmations. If it hasn't moved, check the TxID on Tronscan as above.
- When the INR is sent, you get an email with the amount and the UTR. IMPS usually shows within minutes; NEFT can take a few hours.
- Still missing after 24 hours, or no UTR long after your USDT confirmed? Raise a ticket from your account with your order ID, or email support. We trace it with the payout partner.
The whole flow, with real timings, is in what happens after you send USDT.
When to escalate
- Bank won't help or doesn't answer within 30 days: complain to the RBI Ombudsman through the RBI's complaint portal.
- Platform stopped replying, or you suspect a scam: report it on the national cybercrime portal or call 1930, with your TxIDs and UTRs.
- Never pay a “recovery agent” who contacts you about stuck funds. Recovery scams target exactly this situation.
