Ledger to Indian Bank Account: Sell USDT from Your Ledger for INR

Ledger Wallet (formerly Ledger Live) can't pay INR by itself. Send USDT on TRC20 from your Ledger to your Indian bank: TRX for energy, activation, steps.

By Bryan Aaron · Updated

Quick answer

Ledger Wallet (formerly Ledger Live) can't pay rupees into an Indian bank by itself; its Sell tab uses third-party providers whose payouts vary by region. Ledger supports USDT on TRC20, so keep TRX for fees (Ledger suggests at least 100 TRX), send the USDT from your Tron account to a direct offramp like Disburz, approve it on your device, and receive INR by IMPS with a UTR.

A Ledger keeps your crypto offline, which is exactly why it can't pay rupees into your bank. To get INR, the USDT has to leave the Ledger and go to someone who pays you. The cleanest route from India is short: send USDT on the TRON network from your Ledger to a direct offramp, approve it on the device, and receive INR by IMPS.

Searching for your bank's “ledger balance”? That's a banking term for your account balance before pending transactions. This guide is about the Ledger hardware wallet.

What Ledger's own Sell tab does

Ledger Wallet (formerly Ledger Live) has a Buy/Sell tab that shows quotes from third-party providers such as Transak, BTC Direct and Coinify. Ledger says availability and payment methods vary by region, the provider may ask for KYC, and bank transfers usually take 1–3 business days. If an option to receive INR in an Indian bank account shows up for you, compare the final rupee amount with the route below before you choose.

Before you send: get your Tron account ready

  • Install the Tron app on your Ledger device and add a Tron account in Ledger Wallet. USDT on TRON shows under that account.
  • Activate a new account. Ledger says a new Tron account needs at least 0.1 TRX before USDT and other tokens become visible. If you already sent USDT and can't see it, send 0.1 TRX to the same address; the funds are safe.
  • Keep TRX for energy. TRC20 transfers use energy, which is paid by burning TRX if you don't have any. Ledger recommends keeping at least 100 TRX in your Tron account after energy prices rose. A send that fails with OUT OF ENERGY can still use up your energy and some TRX.
  • Update Ledger Wallet and your Ledger OS first.

Step by step: Ledger to your bank account

  1. Get a Disburz quote for the amount, add the bank account that should receive the money (in your own name), and confirm. Copy the deposit address (it starts with T) and note the exact USDT amount.
  2. Connect and unlock your Ledger, open Ledger Wallet, and open your Tron account's USDT.
  3. Choose Send, paste the Disburz address and enter the exact amount.
  4. Check the network fee, then verify the address on the Ledger screen character by character and approve. The device screen is the one you can trust if your computer is compromised.

Disburz detects the payment, counts the TRON confirmations (about a minute) and pays INR by IMPS, NEFT or RTGS, with a bank UTR by email. Today's fees: ₹50 fee + 3 USDT network deduction. For 1,000 USDT arriving on TRC20:

Arrives at Disburz1,000 USDT (TRC20)
Network deduction− 3 USDT
Rate1 USDT = ₹96.00
Converted value₹95,712.00
Fee− ₹50.00
Paid to your bank₹95,662.00

Ledger warns that the receiving TRON address must be activated. Disburz deposit addresses already are, so you don't need to send TRX to them first. You only pay the normal network fee in TRX from your own Ledger account.

USDT on Ethereum in your Ledger?

If your USDT is in a Ledger Ethereum account (ERC20), it can't go straight to a TRON address. Send it to an exchange that accepts ERC20 USDT, then withdraw on TRC20 to Disburz. Keep some ETH for the Ethereum gas fee. Not sure which network you hold? See how to check which network your USDT is on.

Scams that target Ledger owners

  • Fake “Ledger Live login” pages. Search results are full of look-alike pages on free site builders. Ledger Wallet has no web login. Download it only from ledger.com.
  • Anyone asking for your 24 words. Ledger, Disburz and real support staff never ask for your recovery phrase. Typing it anywhere outside your device gives your money away.
  • Name confusion. LedgerPe is a separate Indian company and isn't part of Ledger.

Can I sell crypto for INR inside Ledger Wallet?

Ledger Wallet's Sell tab shows quotes from third-party providers such as Transak, BTC Direct and Coinify. Availability and payout methods vary by region, providers may ask for KYC, and Ledger says bank transfers usually take 1–3 business days.

Why did my USDT send from Ledger fail with OUT OF ENERGY?

TRC20 transfers need energy, paid by burning TRX if you don't have staked energy. Ledger recommends keeping at least 100 TRX in your Tron account. A failed transaction can still use up your energy and some TRX.

Is LedgerPe the same as Ledger?

No. LedgerPe (SETTLE) is a separate Indian company with a similar name. Ledger is the French hardware wallet maker, and its app is Ledger Wallet (formerly Ledger Live).

Does Ledger support USDT on TRC20?

Yes. Install the Tron app on your Ledger device, add a Tron account in Ledger Wallet, and USDT on TRON appears under that account.
